Overview

Gruppo Musicini is a prestigious classical musical ensemble founded in 1992 by the acclaimed soprano singer Emiko Teruya. Born in Urasoe City, Okinawa, Teruya established the group to bridge the musical gap between Tokyo and her home prefecture. The group is composed of elite performers from the Tokyo Nikikai and Fujiwara Opera Company, along with an orchestra primarily consisting of professors from the Tokyo College of Music, creating a high-level artistic exchange that has greatly contributed to Okinawa’s musical development.

The “First Night” of the 2026 tour features an exquisite program titled “Flute and String Melodies.” Led by flutist Mitsuharu Saito and violinist Shizuka Nakamura, the ensemble will perform timeless masterpieces including Mozart’s Flute Quartet No. 1 and Bach’s Orchestral Suite No. 2. This performance showcases the group’s namesake—”Musicini” meaning young musicians—highlighting the vibrant energy and technical brilliance of some of Japan’s most talented classical artists in the elegant setting of Ryukyu Shimpo Hall.
